ICE-T is establishing three action-research showcase sites across South East England to promote and support the development of telecare and the remote delivery of health and care.
Each of the three centres of excellence will focus and build a body of expertise on one of the identified thematic market applications.
- The University of Kent will address Managed Environments, including private care homes and the domiciliary care market.
- The site based around the City and University of Southampton will focus on the Workplace, looking at technology that supports people in the workplace or returning to work.
- The site in Aylesbury, based around the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, will work with fragile individuals and communities in the Home Setting.
Each site will be a focus for ICE-T projects, offering facilities for action research, simulating real-life environments reflecting the specific theme. They will showcase the use of technology in the delivery of care under that theme and also establish external contacts to act as test sites and provide initial routes to market for technologies and services developed by ICE-T projects.
