We are currently developing a local telecare centre for research and development between businesses, local Higher Education Institutes/colleges and Stoke Mandeville National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC).in Aylesbury.
The centre aims are:
- To develop an action research showcase site for the new International Centre of Excellence in Telecare (ICE–T) in Aylesbury, with a focus on fragile individual/user groups in home settings.
- To attract new businesses into the area and help existing telecare and other businesses to develop new market opportunities; leading to further employment growth and creating new business connections and collaborations, both in the UK and internationally.
- To support business start-ups and the growth of existing businesses in Aylesbury Vale and Bucks.
- To differentiate the Aylesbury Vale proposition, building on its Stoke Mandeville local asset with a global reputation, and underpin the emergence of a dedicated assisted living healthcare business cluster.

Our partners are:

The workgroups are: research and development, headed by Bucks New University; and business engagement, headed by Bucks Economic and Learning Partnership.
The telecare research site, to be determined, is likely to be a commercial property sectioned into practical living spaces for the purpose of ‘a real life’ active research centre, fitted out with prototype and existing assisted living healthcare technologies and visited by potential ‘user group’ delegates.
